Episode 71 of The JamBase Podcast features an interview with The Revivalists frontman David Shaw. JamBase and The JamBase Podcast are partners with the Osiris Media Network, the podcast network for music.
David Shaw spoke with JamBase’s Scott Bernstein via a video chat last month. Shaw, who was at his studio in New Orleans, discussed his recently released debut solo singles with Scotty and his first-ever solo album, which is due in 2021. The musician revealed why he decided it was time to create solo material in addition to his work with The Revivalists.

Shaw explained how he put the band together that recorded the solo material with him. The Ohio native specifically discussed his long working relationship with Neal Francis and how he encouraged Neal to release the critically-acclaimed Changes album.
Additionally, Shaw told Bernstein how he’s keeping sane and taking care of himself during the pandemic. David noted the effect cold showers have had on him, a technique he learned from the Wim Hof Method. The talk eventually turned to The Revivalists, who are currently working on the follow-up to their 2018 studio album, Take Good Care. Shaw spoke about The Revivalists’ July drive in concert in their hometown of New Orleans. While a drive in concert in Atlanta was announced just before David’s chat with Scotty, the show has been canceled. Note that the key of most car horns referred to by Shaw is indeed F#.
