Allen Stone

In Episode 17 of Plus One Eric talks with soul singer and bandleader Allen Stone. The son of a preacher, Allen describes how singing in church from the age of 3 built his musical chops for years before he was exposed to “secular” music. Once he heard Stevie Wonder’s InnerVisions as a teenager Allen had found the sound he wanted to emulate, and you can hear echoes of Stevie and other R&B legends in each of Stone’s four records.

Eric and Allen also discuss fatherhood, the lifelong search for contentment with the touring life, and what they tell up and coming artists when they’re asked for advice.
