Jamie Parganos

This week on Comes A Time Mike and Oteil are joined by Jamie Parganos to discuss a clear definition of “mindfulness,” the importance of finding ways to stay creative, and her company Creative Muse Inc., which provides comprehensive programming and mentorship to youth and adults with an emphasis on creativity and mindfulness as 21st century skills. They also discuss reinforcing mindfulness tactics in children in order to develop positive habits, discovering breakthroughs through taking breaks, and how we need to change our approach to education as the world evolves.

Jamie Parganos began her foray into youth development after being requisitioned to write an original children’s musical. After spending years as a recording artist, Jamie transitioned full-time into running after school programs. She has worked for Good Shepherd Services (formerly Groundwork), Manhattan Youth, Cambridge Learning Center, South Asian Youth Action, LEAP, Broadway Bound Kids, and Kaplan at elementary, middle, and high schools across New York City. Jamie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree pending thesis submission in Nonprofit Management and Organizational Change. She also works as the Project Manager for The New School’s “Management and Social Justice” conversation series.
